Obituary of Josephine J. Southwick

Josephine (Joan) Southwick 96 of Hamilton Township passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2023 in St. Joseph's at Lawrence Rehabilitation and Healthcare. Born at home in the Italian section of South Trenton, She was affectionately known by her family and friends as "Sunshine". She attended Trenton Public Schools. She was an exceptional homemaker and worked for Educational Testing Service for over 30 years. She took many trips to Atlantic City, playing and wining on the slot machines. Her favorite trip was a cruise to Alaska with her son Kenny and his family. Her greatest joy was her family. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed watching the Pioneer Woman on the cooking channel. She enjoyed gardening and shopping and was an avid reader and dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan. Her favorite channel was the Game Show Network. During her stay at St. Joseph's she was entertained by playing bingo and enjoyed the various activities with her resident friends. A special thank you to Alex and Naomi the Activity Leaders. With thanks and gratitude to her outstanding nurse, Abraham, and exceptional aide Aretha, and all the staff at St. Joseph's for their compassion and excellent care. She was daughter of the late Augustine (August) Mattozzi and Catherine (Caperello) Mattozzi. Sister of the late Anthony and George Mattozzi, Philomena (Phyllis) Mattozzi and Rose DelBrusco. Mother of the late Brenda Southwick. Surviving are her children and spouses, Karen and Anthony Lettera of Yardville. Linda and Joseph Bellina of Yardville. Kim and George Ott Jr.of Hamilton. Paul and Dawn Southwick of Yardville. Kenneth and Cathy Southwick of San Ramon, CA. Her grandchildren, Scott and Susan Lettera, George Ott III, Karla Ott, Kevin and Amanda Ott, Zachary Southwick, Madison and Megan Southwick. 3 great grandchildren George Ott IV and Everett Ott and Nathan Lettera. Relatives and friends may call Sunday 4:00 - 6:00pm at Knott's Colonial Funeral Home, 2946 South Broad St. Hamilton. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00am Monday at Sacred Heart Church, 343 South Broad St. Trenton. The family will receive guests 9:30am until Mass. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery.
