Roberto Berrios, Sr.
October 19, 1950-April 15, 2020
Roberto, 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton, with his loving family in his heart. He was born on October 19, 1950 in Caguas, Puerto Rico, and lived in Ciales, Puerto Rico until he was 20 years old. He moved to the US, settling in Trenton, NJ where he met and married the love of his life, Debra. The young couple started a family and happily raised their 5 children before settling in Hamilton in 2004.
Robert was a fixer. Anything that was broken, he could put back together. He would disappear into his favorite place in the world, his garage, and come back with the perfect tool to fix something. He loved to garden and grew the world's spiciest jalapenos, the biggest cucumbers and the tastiest tomatoes, which he enjoyed even more when they were pickled and canned. He loved to "play the game" and was a master slot machine player. Music soothed his soul and dancing was his form of celebration. He was the hardest worker. From sun-up to sun-down he worked his job and every weekend he would spend outside painting or planting, building or landscaping, or underneath the hood of a car. He would do anything to help anyone and would give you the shirt off his back. He dearly loved and missed the family, farm and the mountains of Puerto Rico.
He was a dedicated and loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and caring friend to many, and his passing came way to soon. He was proud of his family, loved seeing them grow up and he enjoyed all their activities.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Juan & Hipolita Salgado Berrios; his brother, Angelo Berrios and his sister Elsa Collazo; and his beloved children, Danielle Berrios and Roberto Berrios, Jr.
Roberto leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Debra; daughter, Nicole (Robert); daughter, Roberta (Yanira); and son, Patrick (Daniele); grandchildren, Gabrielle Berrios, Selena Berrios, Jacian Louis, Angel Berrios, Jordan Rosa, Roberto Berrios III and Ariella Sky Berrios; and great-grandson, John Medina III. He will be greatly missed by his siblings, Efrain Berrios, Ramona Pagan, Sonia Sanchez, Olga Lizardi, Hector Tito Luis, Ana Isabelle Salgado, Maria Robles, Alexis Berrios, Juan Tonito Berrios, and many special nieces, nephews, their children and many life long friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Hamilton and Puerto Rico once the Covid-19 Pandemic is over.
