Obituary of Elsie E. Stemhagen

Elsie (Engelberger) Stemhagen, 97, of Blue Bell, PA, passed away June 18, 2018. Elsie was born to Elizabeth and John Engelberger on December 21, 1920 and was sister to the late John E. Engelberger. Elsie received her certificate from the Trenton School of Industrial Arts, and went on to graduate from Rider University. She married Vincent Stemhagen and after building their dream house in Trenton together, they had their daughter, Annette. Elsie was an expert seamstress, loved cooking, and tending her raspberry patch and vegetable garden. Her family will miss her cucumber salad and strawberry pie (but not her spaghetti). She was selfless, caring for her father, stepmother, and husband at home through their final illnesses. Starting in 2006, Elsie was a resident of Blue Bell Place, where she perfected her bingo game. Elsie is survived by her daughter, Dr. Annette Stemhagen, and son-in-law William Kendall, and beloved granddaughter, Carolyn H. Kendall. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 23rd from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Knott's Colonial Funeral Home 2946 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ 08610. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in Elsie's name, may be made to either the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) or the Barton Center for Diabetes Education (BartonCenter.org).
